Dining In is a Naval tradition and generally held during the fall. The most significant aspect of Dining In is that only service members can attend. No dates or significant others are allowed. Also, during the Dining In a system of fines is set up. Fines are imposed on everything from not addressing the President of the Mess correctly, to not wearing a uniform item in the right way. Dining In is a great time, and lets service members relax with their peers and superiors. It is a time of comradery that is rooted in the highest of tradition
