The Pre and Post Assessment provides the Sailor the opportunity to demonstrate his or her comprehension of specific or all GMT required topics. If the Sailor achieves at least an 80% on a particular GMT topic Pre-assessment, the individual can print out the completion certificate for that topic. The certificate is to be presented to their command Training Officer or GMT Coordinator to be recorded as proof of fulfilling the GMT requirement and they would be exempt from attending the formal command training for that topic.

If the Sailor does not achieve at least an 80%, or has not received the FY07 training, he or she is required to attend the command training for the topic when scheduled. After a Sailor attends the command training for a GMT required topic, a Post-assessment is to be taken. If the Sailor achieves at least an 80%, the individual can print out the completion certificate for that topic. The certificate is to be presented to their command Training Officer or GMT Coordinator to be recorded as proof of fulfilling the GMT requirement.
