Service Selection
Service selection plays a vital role in determining your career specialty
after graduation. It is conducted during the year prior to graduation
by the Chief of Naval Education and Training (CNET). Many factors are
taken into account to assign a designator to each midshipman. Midshipmen
submit their choices in a precommissioning package. The following page
describes the basic guidelines and requirements for service selection.
